What's New in 2021 for the Toyota Tundra?
Even with a handful of updates over the years, the Toyota Tundra is one of the oldest full-sized Toyota trucks available today. While the Tundra is still due for a complete redesign – which it hasn't had since 2007 – the upgrades to the 2021 are enough to get us excited! The main changes this year include the addition of a pair of new special edition models: the Nightshade Edition and the Trail Special Edition. Along with the 2021 Tundra, Toyota decided to offer both of these limited-edition trims to the 2021 Tacoma as well, plus added the Nightshade to the Sequoia and the Trail to the 4Runner. These trims have been ultra-popular, so why not spread the love?!
Along with these two new trims, you can expect a 381-horsepower 5.7-liter i-Force V-8 engine that works effortlessly with a six-speed automatic transmission. The models are also ready and willing to handle up to 10,200 lbs. of cargo with a maximum payload of 1,730 ft-lbs.
In true Toyota fashion, to keep families safe and entertained, the 2021 Tundra is outfitted with Toyota Safety Sense technology and the innovative Connected Services infotainment system, which includes features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa and Wi-Fi Connect. Standard safety features include forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera.

Nothing gets a motor head’s gears running like the introduction of two new trims! And the Tundra’s Nightshade Edition and Trail Special Edition certainly do not disappoint. You might notice that most Toyota vehicles already have the popular Nightshade edition on their trim roster, and the Tundra’s version boasts similar specs. It's comparable to the Limited trimline, but with a multitude of cosmetic upgrades that include 20-inch alloy rims and black leather upholstery.
The all-new Trail Edition contains more similarities to the Limited. And with only 5000 of them being made, this trim is attractive to those of you who like the idea of something a little more exclusive. Based on the SR5 CrewMax, its black exterior badging, and black upholstery with tan contrast stitching pairs well with the body-coloured grille and 18-inch alloy wheels. We also love that it comes complete with all-terrain tires, all-weather floor mats, and a lockable cargo bed storage unit! Perfect for hitting the trail, indeed!
